500 Species The Animorphs Should Have Morphed!

Post by PKWonder » Sun May 13, 2012 1:46 am

...and in what situation(s)? This can include instead-of-_____, or just a hypothetical situation. It can be practical, comical, or just a morph where you would have found the natural instincts, etc. interesting to read about.

(not counting the non-canon Alternamorphs here)

1. Giraffe - it's an extremely popular animal that would have been a great cover morph, as well as been useful to scan the horizon when flying wasn't practical. A giraffe could also pack a pretty powerful kick.

2. Zebra - also extremely popular. You know, I think there should have been a situation where the gang was stranded in Africa, or just doing a mission there.

Tardigrade. They would save themselves a lot of trouble with a bunch of different defense morphs if they had just gone Tardigrade.

Waterbears! I've seen a short documentary segment on them before. It would have been difficult for them to obtain due to their near-microscopic nature and they would have been useless as far as mobility/making sense of surroundings goes. But they would have been great for defense in extreme climate.

I actually wondered last night, "if the series had gone on long enough, would KA ever have included mythical creatures, extant or extinct, in the Animorphs universe?"

I'm glad she didn't, as I much prefer extra-terrestrials to fantastical beasts (not a stab at Harry Potter, I love it too to a lesser degree). Although a one-time Megamorphs that took place in a dream or reality created by human's fantasies or some other ridiculous plot that included unicorns and minotaurs and merpeople and dragons would have been all in good fun.

When they were in the arctic, they should have acquired narwhal morphs

1 millimeter isn't near microscopic...
Also, it would be useful if they were on a ship or something, glitch happens, and everyone is thrown into space- There have been tardigrades that survived about ten days in space (I think).

Ah, thanks for encouraging the research. I didn't remember them being quite so visible. Regardless, I definitely agree they would have been useful in many situations, both on-Earth and in-space such as the one you mentioned (although I don't think being a nothlit tardigrade in space is superior to death :P)

Otters would have been an amusing playful morph, and they could have used a more maneuverable and sense-oriented freshwater animal than trout.

Wait for it... wait for it...
Tiger Beetle. Dunno why, they're just cool.
They go 9 and a half kilometers per hour when they run, I think they're cool.
