<Welcome to the club. My friends and I can hardly wait to hear everything that you have to say about all things Animorphs and anything else that we end up talking about.>
<If you are having trouble getting in those first 5 posts so that you can download the eBooks than just check these out. >
<First thing first: Posts in Animorphs Discussions, The Coffee Lounge, and most other places on this site will add to your post count, however any posts you make in Forum Games WILL NOT count.>
EDIT: <For those of you who are wondering, I was sitting at my computer one day thinking "I just made a lot of posts, I wonder how many people have posted more then I have?" Then I learned that by clicking 'members' then 'posts' you could see a list of ever user name on this site, in order from least posts to most. Clicking on 'posts' again sorts the list by most posts to least.>
<I was shocked by just how many hundreds of people had joined, only to not make any posts.>
<That is why I made this list.>
<Also, after you have made at least 300 posts, we have a member named Visser 5, who would like you to visit this topic: http://animorphsfanforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=3174 you don't have to, but then again, you don't have to read this any way.>
<I have three pet peeves when it comes to fan forums. The first is people who join, then make zero posts. All you are is a name. Number two is those of you that have made 5 posts, and then left. Third is when someone has a question that has already been asked and answered, yet you didn't look around for the answer, so you ask it again.>
<Please look below to see if you can find the answers to your questions before you ask them. It isn't that we don't want to answer your questions, it is just that we don't want to have to repeat ourselves needlessly.>
Are you wondering if you should read all the books?
http://animorphsfanforum.com/viewtopic. ... order+book
Book order:
If it is your first time reading them, then this is the order they came out:
1-7
Megamorphs 1
8-18
Megamorphs 2
19-22
The Andalite Chronicles
23-29
Megamorphs 3
30-33
The Hork-Bajir Chronicles
34-35
Visser
36-38, (DO NOT READ #39!) 40
Megamorphs 4
41-54
Ellimist chronicles
If you've read them before, then read them in the order they TAKE PLACE. Keep in mind that reading them in this order can lead to spoilers for later books, which is why you should only read them in this order if you have already read them before:
Ellimist chronicles
Hork-Bajir Chronicles
Andalite Chronicles
Visser
1-7
megamorphs 1
8-18
Megamorphs 2
19-29
Megamorphs 3
30-35
Visser (yes, again)
36-38, (DO NOT READ #39!) 40
Megamorphs 4
41-54
If I want to hit all the most important parts, what books should I skip, and still not miss anything good?
17, 24, 35, 36, 39, 42, 44
Of these book 39 is absolutely the worst Animorphs book ever written, if you haven't read it and you never do, I will understand, 44 is also very worth missing more than any of these other skip-able books.

Okay, I'll make a list of what I read:
1-6: very important.
7: important, introduced us to a new species, plus one of my favorites.
8: very important Ax book, but you'll need to read #7 first, or else you'll get confused.
12: Not really important, but my favorite, so why not give it a try?
13: A major Tobias book, if you don't read this, you'll be VERY confused for most of the series.
17:you could skip this one.
19: important,beautifully written, so a good read.
David troligy: I've only read the first two, but seems important so far
32: important just for the next book.
33:This book is a really good one. Important, to.
37: Not really important.
50:the one before this and all the others until the end I hear are very important.

It's been a while so I'm a bit iffy, hopefully someone who has re-read the series more recently will complete any gaps.
You've read 14, so starting from there:
15: Important for the main series, introduces a new alien species that is relevant later.
16: A minor character relevant to Visser 3's backstory appears, otherwise not very important.
17: Skip it.
18: Important. Ax and Tobias don't get many books compared to the rest, so all their books tend to be important for their character development. Plus it concludes a plot line started in 15.
19: Very important.
20-21-22: A three-book arc about a new character, very important.
23: One of the major books for Tobias' character development, and plot-relevant.
24: This, 39, and 42 are all interrelated, and they all suck. Skip them.
25: Ambiguous. Not a bad book, but not major either.
26: Very important. Plus, it's an Ellimist book.
27: Introduces a major character and hints at a few other things.
28: Not a major book, but it's narrated by Ax.
29: Continues and to an extent resolves a plotline started in 19.
30: Major book for Marco's character development, plus very relevant to the overall plot
31: Somewhat important for Jake's character development, but otherwise plot-irrelevant.
32: Much like the previous two, it's a character development book, this time for Rachel. Also sets the stage for the events in the next book.
33: Another character development book! Tobias this time, pretty major.
34: Major book, deals with a lot of the Hork-Bajir backstory.
35: Skip it.
36: Skip it.
37: Character development book, deals with the dynamics of the group as a whole. Especially between Jake and Rachel.
38: Narrated by Ax, plus it's a very good book on its own (in my opinion).
39: Related to 24 and 42. Skip it.
40: Not bad, but not important.
41: Irrelevant to the general story arc, but has a bit of Jake character development.
42: Related to 24 and 39. Skip it.
43: Conclusion of a storyline that started in 33, Tobias book, mentions a few things that are relevant later on.
44: Skip it.
45-54 is basically the "final arc" of the series, leading up to the end. Thus, everything there is a must read.
The Chronicles are all great and provide lots of backstory. Visser in particular is very plot-relevant, the others less so.
The Megamorphs, as a general rule, are tangential to the main plot but are good books on their own.
In summary, the most relevant to the plot and backstory are 15, 18, 19-23, 26-27, 30, 33-34, 45-54 and the Chronicles.
The ones that are relevant to character development but aren't essential are: 31-33, 37-38, 41, and 43.
Of the rest, the ones I'd recommend you read are 16, 25, 28-29, 31-32, 37-38, 40, and the Megamorphs.
And the ones you can freely skip without missing much are 17, 24, 35-36, 39, 42 and 44.
This is all based on my opinion and I'm sure others will question my choices, and they'll probably have good reasons.
<So if you are trying to get that first 5 in, or just move up to a higher rank, all you need to do is...>
