The flash drive probably got infected. Malwares act quickly.
Hopefully, you must have an antivirus on your laptop. If it's on access scanner is on, and it's databases are up-to-date, you needn't worry. It'll catch the malware(s) when it tries to infect your laptop.
As a precaution, put your important files (fan-fiction) in a passworded RAR file (with encrypted filenames). This way, if your laptop gets infected in one way or the other, your files will remain safe.

Re: Possible virus
Easier way to do it, if you can spare to lose the files on the flash in the interest of cleaning it, go my comp, right click (on the flash and not on Local unless you want out wipe out everything on your laptop) and go format, this will erase EVERYTHING on the flash

Re: Possible virus
To solve your problem first you have to use updated anti-virus and scan your all drives and then delete all temporary files and registries.Scan also your flash drive to clean all viruses from it.
